BF Goodrich g-Force rival S review
What is it?
The BF Goodrich g-Force Rival S is an extreme performance summer tire engineered for track use and autocross. The g-Force Rival S is the successor and alternative to the original g-Force Rival. Unlike full-fledged race tires, the g-Force Rival S can be safely driven on the street in summer conditions.
MinimumTread.com recommends that for a variety of reasons including road noise, comfort, (accelerated) wear, and sometimes edgy handling characteristics, extreme performance summer tires not be used everyday. Simply put, these tires are best suited for "extreme" conditions; track, autocross, and limited street performance contexts.
Strengths and weaknesses?
TBD. The original g-Force Rival trailed category competitors in both dry and wet performance. The g-Force Rival S features an updated tread compound that reportedly has increased dry traction and performance. BF Goodrich claims that the g-Force Rival S is faster than leading category competitors, who in turn claim they're faster than the g-Force Rival S... Only the tire Gods really know.
How does the g-Force Rival S compare?
While clearly lagging behind category competitors, the original g-Force Rival wasn't too far off. If the g-Force Rival S notably improves in dry condition performance and grip as reported, it could become a legitimate alternative to the Hankook Ventus R-S3, Nitto NT01, Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08 R, etc.
Anything else to know?
The BF Goodrich g-Force Rival S is unproven at the time of this article construction. On the heels of a just average entry into the category with the g-Force Rival, we have to admit the g-Force Rival S is a tough buy.
Perhaps forthcoming testing and data will compel track day enthusiasts to give the g-Force Rival S a try.
