Continental ContiProContact review
What is it?
The Continental ContiProContact all season tire was originally designed for European sports coupes and sedans sold in North America. Now available in sizes that fit a wide variety of foreign and domestic vehicles, the ContiProContact aims to blend good traction and handling with civility and all season capability.
Strengths and weaknesses?
The ContiProContact possesses good dry and wet traction and handling, as well as favorable comfort characteristics.
However, those strengths are more than offset by notably below average snow/winter performance, and limited treadlife. Continental is known to deliver winter capable all season tires (see the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06), but the ContiProContact is not one of them.
How does the ContiProContact compare?
Within the grand touring all season tire category there's no room for error, and the ContiProContact's poor snow/winter performance results in a lower tier ranking. That in combination with limited treadlife has negatively influenced user perception. Simply put, there are far superior alternatives -- see below.
Anything else to know?
To be fair, the ContiProContact represents previous generation tire technology. It's been out for more than a decade at the time of this writing.
Without significant cost savings to be had with the ContiProContact as compared to more modern grand touring all season alternatives, we suggest you look elsewhere. The Continental PureContact with EcoPlus Technology, Michelin Premier A/S, and Bridgestone Driveguard are good starting points.
