Continental ContiSportContact review
What is it?
The Continental ContiSportContact is an ultra high performance summer tire designed for sport-oriented coupes and sedans, and sports cars. The ContiSportContact is engineered to provide very good, reassuring performance in both dry and wet warm weather conditions.
Strengths and weaknesses?
Reportedly good dry traction and cornering capability, and excellent wet condition capabilities. That comes as no surprise given Continental's penchant for superb rain tires.
Given its ultra high performance summer designation, outright grip and performance is lacking as compared to max performance summer alternatives.
How does it compare?
Direct comparative data is lacking, but we'd suggest that the ContiSportContact would place firmly in the better half of ultra high performance summer tire category in every evaluative metric.
- Treadlife Warranty: None
- Uniformity Warranty: 1 year, first 2/32" of wear
Anything else to know?
Despite the fact that the ContiSportContact is by all indications and measures a good tire, we suggest you skip it, and go for the gusto.
The gusto in this case being the sublime Continental ExtremeContact DW.
The ExtremeContact DW is a problem (if you can call it that) for the ContiSportContact for a few reasons:
- It's much less expensive
- It's a superior performer in the dry and wet
- Comfort characteristics and treadlife between the two are a toss up
So if the shoe fits, make the jump up to the ExtremeContact DW and don't look back.
Intent on staying within the ultra high performance summer tire category? Then have a look at the excellent BF Goodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2. It's the best ranked tire in the category, and about half (yes, seriously) the price of the ContiSportContact.
