Firestone Destination ST review
What is it?
The Firestone Destination ST is a street/sport truck all season tire engineered for sport- and performance-oriented SUV's and pickups.
Strengths and weaknesses?
Top tier dry and wet performance, as well as comfort characteristics. The Destination ST also distinguishes itself in terms of snow/winter capability, which is not typical within this tire category.
How does it compare?
In 2010 Tire Rack comparison testing, the Destination ST finished behind the Kumho Ecsta STX KL12 and Pirelli Scorpion Zero in final overall results. The Destination ST couldn't quite match its contemporaries when it came to outright traction in both dry and wet conditions, and it lacked some steering response as well. The Destination ST was recognized as a mild mannered option with excellent road manners.
User feedback suggests that the Destination ST is a street/sport truck all season front-runner, along with the Yokohama Parada Spec-X and Goodyear Fortera SL Edition.
- Treadlife Warranty: 5 years, 40,000 miles
- Uniformity Warranty: First 1/32" of wear
Anything else to know?
Very limited 20" sizes available. Reasonably priced as compared to various other street/sport truck all season options.
Snow/winter performance wasn't evaluated in the Tire Rack comparison test, and that's one area where the Destination ST has an advantage over the vast majority of the street/sport truck all season competition.
Many users report substantial treadlife as well.
However, chances are you won't be able to find the Destination ST in your required sizes. If that proves to be the case, check out the excellent Yokohama Parada Spec-X. If you're on a budget, the Nexen Roadian HP is the bargain of this tire category and also worth a look.
