Fuzion SUV Review
What is it?
The Fuzion SUV is an affordable highway all season tire designed for SUV's, crossovers, vans, and light-duty pickups. The Fuzion SUV is often purchased as an original equipment tire replacement.
The highway all season SUV/Truck tire class is particularly competitive, and every major manufacturer desires a foothold. The Fuzion SUV stands out in this group not on a performance basis, but as the most economical option that delivers (arguably) acceptable performance.
Strengths and weaknesses?
Dry and wet road condition performance is good overall, but by no means exceptional. Things start to get a little more questionable when it comes to winter performance. If we were being generous, we'd suggest that the Fuzion SUV could be described as adequate when the snow falls. Put it this way -- the Fuzion SUV certainly does not inspire go anywhere, do anything wintertime driving confidence.
Comfort characteristics are also not a high point. The Fuzion SUV makes some noise to be sure, and ride comfort is not on par with higher quality options.
Treadlife has proven to be about average for the tire category.
How does the Fuzion SUV compare?
Tire Rack user feedback ranks the Fuzion SUV twentieth in a highly competitive field of thirty-six highway all season tires. As compared to top quality alternatives, the Fuzion SUV cannot compete on an all-around performance, or comfort basis. However, it's worth noting again that the Fuzion SUV is the most affordable tire in the category, and it's far from the worst performer.
Anything else to know?
If you put initial affordability first, second, and third in terms of priorities, then the Fuzion SUV is most likely your best option in the tire category.
There is no question that the "for the money" caveat is applicable here though. The Fuzion SUV simply does not deliver the all-around performance of tires further up the quality scale, and as explained, winter performance is arguably insufficient. You'll also unquestionably have to put up with some road noise.
Does this make the Fuzion SUV a poor choice? Far from it, but users should temper performance and comfort expectations, and sync them with the low cost. You can't buy a Hyundai and expect Rolls Royce quality, so to speak.
If you are inclined to shell out some more cash for objectively superior and proven all season performance, then there is no question that the Firestone Destination LE2 is where you should land. It's one step up the cost scale, and delivers notably superior performance.
Make no mistake though, compared to the Fuzion SUV any step up in performance will come at a cost many buyers will find unattractive. For example, even the excellent value Firestone Destination LE2 is nearly $100 more per set than the Fuzion SUV*.
