General Tire Grabber AT 2 review
What is it?
The General Tire Grabber AT 2 is an on-/off-road all terrain tire designed for pickups and SUV's. Often used as an OE replacement and upgrade tire.
Strengths and weaknesses?
The Grabber AT 2 is solid across all evaluative metrics. Excellent dry traction, and well above average wet road condition, and snow/winter capabilities.
Probably not the quietest tire of the group.
How does it compare?
User feedback ranks the Grabber AT 2 seventh out of eighteen tires in the on-/off-road all terrain tire category. Despite the apparent gap, there's very little performance differential between the Grabber AT 2 and the top rated BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2. There is, however, a notable price differential (see below).
- Treadlife Warranty: 6 years, 60,000 miles (excludes LT and flotation tires). Mileage stipulations for staggered tire setups
- Uniformity Warranty: 1 year, first 2/32" of wear
Anything else to know?
The Grabber AT 2 is about $90 cheaper per tire than the aforementioned BF Goodrich. Along with the Firestone Destination A/T, the Grabber AT 2 is arguably the optimum blend of performance and value in this tire category. We would suggest, however, that the Firestone is a better option on an all-around performance and comfort basis.
Also particularly worthy of consideration are the Kumho Road Venture AT51 and Nitto Terra Grappler G2.
