General Tire Grabber UHP review
What is it?
The General Tire Grabber UHP is an established street/sport truck summer tire engineered for sport- and performance-oriented SUV's and pickups.
Strengths and weaknesses?
Excellent dry and wet traction + handling characteristics, along with commendable ride quality and treadlife.
May not be the quietest street/sport truck summer tire available.
How does it compare?
Along with the Hankook Ventus ST RH06, and to a lesser extent the much more expensive Continental CrossContact UHP, the Grabber UHP remains one of the front-runners in the category. Even after a decade-plus on the market. The Grabber UHP has remarkable staying power with technology and performance that was obviously well ahead of its time.
In 2005 Tire Rack comparative testing, the Grabber UHP bested the Kumho Ecsta STX KL12 (no longer available).
User rankings place the Grabber UHP second overall, just shy of the aforementioned Hankook.
- Treadlife Warranty: None
- Uniformity Warranty: 1 year, first 2/32" of wear
Anything else to know?
Along with being the most tried and tested, the Grabber UHP is also the most reasonably priced of the top tier street/sport truck summer tires.
Availability and sizes are somewhat limited -- looks to be finally on its way out. Get it while you still can...
We look forward to seeing what its successor has to offer.
