Strengths and weaknesses?
Class leading performance and handling characteristics in both dry and wet conditions. Snow/winter performance is also top tier for the category.
Ride quality is good, but road noise is a distinct negative. The Assurance TripleTred All-Season is one of the noisiest tires in the typically comfort-oriented passenger all season category.
How does the Assurance TripleTred All-Season compare?
In 2014 Tire Rack comparison testing, the Assurance TripleTred All-Season trailed the Michelin Defender and Continental TrueContact in final overall scoring.
While the Assurance TripleTred All-Season displayed good handling feedback and grip, it lacked snow/winter performance and was spotlighted as the noisiest tire in the group.
It's important to note, however, that users have largely overlooked these reported flaws. The Assurance TripleTred All-Season ranks first out of fourteen passenger all season options per user feedback.
Anything else to know?
With the Assurance TripleTred All-Season Goodyear have infused a bit of life and performance into the sleepy passenger all season tire category. Even if at the expense of some ride comfort and road noise, it's apparently what category customers have been waiting for. Goodyear have also perhaps pulled off a bit of a marketing sleight of hand with the "passenger all season" designation...
Because the Assurance TripleTred All-Season wouldn't stand out quite so distinctly on a performance basis in the standard touring all season category. Competition like the Continental TrueContact and General Tire AltiMAX RT43 (T-Speed Rated) match it stride for stride on a performance basis, and they've got the value/price advantage as well.
So while the Assurance TripleTred All-Season is undoubtedly a solid tire choice, perhaps expand your horizons beyond the passenger all season category before making a final decision. Explore options at Tire Buyer.
