Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season review
What is it?
The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season is an ultra high performance all season tire designed for performance-oriented coupes and sedans, and sports cars. Often purchased as an OE tire replacement and upgrade.
Strengths and weaknesses?
The Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season is the flagship ultra high performance all season tire from Goodyear with excellent traits almost across the board.
Class leading traction and handling in both dry and wet conditions, as well as commendable comfort characteristics. Treadlife is also well above average for the tire category.
Light snow performance is very solid, while deep snow and ice condition capabilities lag a bit behind. To be fair, ultra high performance all season tires are not engineered to cope with winter's worst, but category alternatives like the Continental ExtremeContact DWS and Dunlop SP Sport Maxx A1-A A/S are more competent in the winter discipline.
How does it compare?
In the particularly competitive ultra high performance tire category, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season ranks third out of twenty-four tires per user feedback.
In 2015 Tire Rack comparison testing, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season trailed the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 and contemporaries from Pirelli and Michelin in final overall rankings. Testers found the Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season lacking capability in wet conditions, specifically. Long-term users largely haven't reported the same wet condition deficiencies. Our take: perhaps it lacks some of the outright wet condition performance of top tier alternatives, but the Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season will be plenty capable in April showers.
- Treadlife Warranty: 6 years, 45,000 miles. Mileage stipulations for staggered tire setups
- Uniformity Warranty: 1 year, first 2/32" wear
Anything else to know?
We like the Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season, but wish it were just a bit more reasonably priced.
The Hankook Ventus S1 noble2 and General G-MAX AS-03 are about 20% less expensive, for example. We're not yet convinced that you get extra performance for the money.
As the successor to the Goodyear Eagle Sport All-Season (W-Speed Rated), which was also found to be slightly deficient in the wet, it would have been ideal for the Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season to offer clear progress in this particular department.
Nevertheless, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season is a top level ultra high performance all season tire, and offers significant advantages over any number of OE tires.
