While 0-60 mph and quarter mile times make all of the headlines, 0-100 mph time is perhaps the most underrated and relevant of the acceleration tests/measures.
The 0-100 mph time gives a strong indication of how a vehicle performs in the vast majority of road driving circumstances.
Merging onto the highway, passing on a two lane country road, and having a spirited drive that won’t land you in Leavenworth… All of these circumstances involve speeds over 60 mph, but under 100 mph. Well, usually.
Remember when the Ferrari f430 and Ford GT represented otherworldly performance? Us too. Equal acceleration is now available to the masses in the form of relatively common coupes and sedans.
We can debate until the cows come home about whether modern day performance cars are as fun, as characterful, as engaging as previous generations. But when it comes to objective performance there is no question, modern performance coupes and sedans are simply remarkable.

*1st gear traction issues are likely to blame for the notably slower 0-100 mph time relative to the M3 and ATS-V. It is an AMG, after all. We expect to see 0-100 mph times drop well into the 8 second range as more tests occur.
