The top 10 production car lap times around Laguna Seca illustrate hypercar dominance. (And just how ridiculously capable the Dodge Viper ACR is when all variables are optimal…)
A recent BMW M4 DTM Nurburgring Nordschleife lap with driver Augusto Farfus serves as an excellent video reference point. We've put that lap video alongside Marc Lieb's Porsche 918 Spyder record lap video via the link below.
The Nordschleife is an appropriate venue for this comparison because, well, it gives the 918 Spyder a fighting chance. Especially toward the front end of the lap, the 'ring has many open, full throttle sectors that permit full use of the 918 Spyder's 887 horsepower. (BMW M4 DTM is 480 horsepower.)
The Porsche 918 Spyder is equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 street legal track tires, while the M4 DTM gets full racing slicks. The curb weights are 3,690 lbs. for the Porsche, and 2,450 lbs. for the M4 DTM. The 918 Spyder has excellent aero characteristics for a production performance car, but of course nothing like the downforce of the M4 DTM.

Or cue the two videos manually and watch below. Starting points are 0:28 for the M4 DTM lap, and 0:52 in the 918 Spyder video.
