The Isle of Man TT is most renowned for its motorcycle action, but this video comes courtesy of Subaru and hot shoe Mark Higgins.
The fury of motorsport is almost impossible to capture on video. And most often even driver point of view/in-car footage doesn’t adequately convey the skill involved in the craft.
But every once in a while a video comes along that gives the layperson a glimpse into the difficulty and skill involved. Examples include Leh Keen’s Rain Dance, Sebastian Vettel’s pole lap in Singapore, and certainly this Isle of Man footage.
On the record lap, Higgins’ Subaru shod with Dunlop race tires achieved a 128.72 mph average speed through the Isle of Man course. That’s through villages and neighborhoods, on narrow walled streets, and with hazards just about everywhere. Zero margin for error.
This particulary flyby over the river and through the woods is reportedly at 150 mph.
Here’s the full lap with narration from Higgins. Timed lap officially starts at the 2:26 mark.
