Continental ContiCrossContact Winter review
What is it?
The Continental ContiCrossContact Winter is a snow/winter tire designed specifically for powerful 4x4 and all wheel drive vehicles. Despite the intended application, the ContiCrossContact has been successfully fitted on everything from Audi SUV's, to fwd Honda CR-V models and BMW 7-series. Strengths and weaknesses? Continental engineered the ContiCrossContact Winter with winter condition competence as the highest priority, but also dry and wet road handling and capabilities. Snow tires can be noisy, but the ContiCrossContact is not. They've hit the mark in all areas. How does the ContiCrossContact compare? While not as well known, we'd suggest that the ContiCrossContact is a viable alternative to top tier SUV/truck snow/winter tires like the Blizzak LM-80. In fact, the ContiCrossContact has attracted more than a few Blizzak defectors, and some report that the ContiCrossContact has the advantage in comfort characteristics in particular.
Anything else to know?
Very limited large diameter sizes available. The Pirelli Scorpion Winter, and Hankook Winter i'cept evo2 SUV are also worth considering in this class of tire. Depending upon your vehicle, the excellent Continental WinterContact SI might also be a match. Install in sets of four only, or you'll be dealing with a potentially hazardous handing imbalance.
