What is it?

The Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D DSST RunOnFlat (DSST=Dunlop Self-Supporting Technology) is a snow/winter tire designed for use on performance-oriented coupes, sedans, and sports cars. The SP Winter Sport 3D DSST RunOnFlat is the run flat version of perhaps the most popular performance winter/snow tire on the market, the Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D.

Strengths and weaknesses?

Excellent snow and ice traction, and very good in wet road conditions as well. Ride quality and treadlife are also strong points.

Road noise may be a bit higher than the associated non-run flat, and other performance winter/snow options due to the incorporation of run flat technology.

Dry condition performance is perhaps not quite as ideal as some of alternative performance winter/snow tires, but far from deficient or inadequate.

How does it compare?

Direct comparative data is lacking for the SP Winter Sport 3D DSST RunOnFlat.

The associated SP Winter Sport 3D ranks seventh out of twelve performance winter/snow tires per user feedback. The mid-pack ranking is somewhat misleading as the performance differential between the SP Winter Sport 3D and higher ranked options like the Bridgestone Blizzak LM-32 is minimal and arguably imperceptible in the majority of conditions. By and large, performance winter/snow tires function as intended, and the SP Winter Sport 3D DSST RunOnFlat is no exception.
