Goodyear Eagle RS-A review
What is it?
The Goodyear Eagle RS-A is a high performance all season tire designed for use on sports cars, and performance coupes and sedans. Served as the original equipment tire for a wide range of vehicles, including the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Pontiac G8, and Infiniti G37x.
Strengths and weaknesses?
Adequate dry traction and handling capabilities, but across all other evaluative metrics the Eagle RS-A is behind the curve.
Wet condition performance is notably below average, as are winter capabilities. Comfort characteristics are poor, and treadlife is limited.
How does it compare?
In the competitive high performance all season tire category, the Eagle RS-A ranks thirteenth out of sixteen tires per user feedback.
In 2005 Tire Rack comparison testing, the Eagle RS-A trailed the Continental ContiProContact by a wide margin in final overall scoring.
- Treadlife Warranty: None
- Uniformity Warranty: 1 year, first 2/32" wear
Anything else to know?
The Eagle RS-A delivers subpar performance at an unreasonable (OE tax) price.
Lack of treadlife warranty is a concern due to a less-than-stellar reputation in this area.
Any number of standout performance all season alternatives can be acquired for a lesser price, including the exceptional Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 and BF Goodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S. Even the Goodyear Eagle Sport All-Season (W-Speed Rated) is more affordable.
Avoid and move on from this OE tire.
