Hankook Ventus Z214 review
What is it?
The Hankook Ventus Z214 is a racetrack and autocross tire engineered for sports cars, and performance-oriented coupes and sedans. The Ventus Z214 is designed to deliver excellent performance in autocross, time attack, road racing, and track day (HPDE) contexts.
While DOT approved, the Ventus Z214 is not appropriate for road use. All of its extreme performance attributes will be unappreciated on the road, and that surprise rain shower will have you off the road; voluntarily or involuntarily...
Strengths and weaknesses?
Massive amounts of stick.
Dry traction and grip are first-rate, though slightly short of a Hoosier A6 or R6.
Ride quality, road noise, and treadlife are all very commendable given the Ventus Z214's dedicated nature.
Wet condition capabilities are slim to none.
How does the Ventus Z214 compare?
Users rank the Ventus Z214 first out of five racetrack & autocross tire options. The aforementioned Hoosier's have the Ventus Z214 beat on sheer pace, but the Ventus Z214 claws some of that advantage back on the basis of affordability, civility, and value (treadlife).
Anything else to know?
The Ventus Z214 is one of the most affordable racetrack & autocross tires available, and provides some of the best treadlife as well. It's a good value proposition, relatively speaking.
If you're willing to exchange a few tenths for treadlife and affordability, then the Ventus Z214 may be your ideal option.
