Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S review
What is it?
The Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S is an ultra high performance all season tire designed for performance-oriented coupes and sedans, and sports cars used through four seasons.
The P Zero Nero M&S is engineered to provide exceptional dry and wet condition dynamics for sporty cars, as well as sufficient traction in light snow.
Strengths and weaknesses?
Dry condition performance and handling are excellent. On pace with category leaders like the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season in this discipline.
Rain performance is above average, but lacking as compared to select top tier category options.
Comfort characteristics are very good.
Treadlife is decent, and dependent upon driving habits/style. 40,000 miles is possible, but sub 20,000 is also possible if driven hard.
Ultra high performance all season tires are often hit and miss when it comes to true winter capabilities, but the P Zero Nero M&S isn't distinctly either. Light snow traction is sufficient by some standards, however, it lacks capability in deeper snow and icy conditions.
How does it compare?
The P Zero Nero M&S ranks thirteenth out of twenty-five ultra high performance all season tire per Tire Rack user feedback.
In 2008 Tire Rack comparative testing, the P Zero Nero M&S trailed the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus and Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position in final overall scoring. Testers found that the P Zero Nero M&S handled well, but lacked the handling feedback and crispness of contemporaries. And rain performance was deficient as compared to the other test subjects.
- Treadlife Warranty: None
- Uniformity Warranty: 1 year, first 2/32" of wear
Anything else to know?
Very limited sizes currently available. The P Zero Nero M&S looks like it's being phased out of production after over a decade of service.
The Hankook Ventus S1 noble2 and Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval AS (W-Speed Rated) are affordable alternatives that match the overall performance of the P Zero Nero M&S, and probably hold a slight edge when it comes to wet condition and winter performance as well.
